Answer to Mrs. and Mr. Thierry Weil, On behalf of our guests and future guests we are compelled to clarify that both reviews are completely lack of truth. Mr. and Mrs. Thierry Weil wrote 2 different reviews, in French and English, like if it were two different bookings. We are very sorry to have to directly address it this way. Usually we don't even comment any review, for us it's like a gift, but the lack of truth on both comments didn't give us any chance to do it other way. About the Facts: I personally invited Mr. and Mrs. Thierry Weil to leave our property after the first night, without charging the remaining nights or even the extra bed. The other guests wouldn't need to share their personnel problems or bad mood, neither I may allow any rude manners to our staff, so I made them the offer in private and they accepted it. It would be advisable to keep it that way. That was the first time ever since we have invited a guest to leave us and we naturally expect it would be the last. The bad mood and manners shown at the snack we serve to our guests near the pool and again at breakfast didn't give us any choice. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Weil reserved a Suite Castle for 2 persons and we immediately changed the reservation on arrival in order to properly accommodate their lovely daughter. Our extra beds are just like the other beds (not a sofa-bed or similar), the worldwide top quality of hotel beds. Afterwards, they didn't like the colour of the bedroom walls they strictly have chosen, the Suite Castle walls with chocolate brown color, arguing it was a reservation platform mistake. In order to change the reservation and grant Mr. and Mrs. Weil the Royal Suite, I've personally shown them the suite to assure it was ok. The white camellia walls and extra-large room pleased them, so we phoned to the guest that reserved the Royal Suite to assure she wouldn't mind to change the suite with them. Fortunately she agreed and we reduced the rate to her, since Royal Suite has a higher rate. To Mr. and Mrs. Weil we didn't charged the Royal Suite rate and also offered the extra bed. We sincerely have done our best. About the Palace: The Palace restoration has been made by the most professional Portuguese experts graduated in the academy of the Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva, which are really great and recognized everywere. So, inside the Palace everything were properly restored: walls, doors, ceilings, floor, everything. Photos and reviews may show it. On the other hand the Suite Castle, ancient warehouses for grain or stables, do have a modern design and one of them was designed by Nini Andrade Silva, a dear friend of us that has several design awards of best hotel in the world. Our environment at the Palace concerns two gardens; one garden with a large swimming pool overlooking the Castle were we serve a complimentary snack in hot weather with lemonade, cold white wine, some tapas, fruit and cake, which allows the guests to chat an know each other, it's very pleasant; the steambath and fitness; five big saloons and a games/leisure room with billiard; the fireplace saloon were we serve hot chocolate and scones in cold weather, etc. The Royal Suite has 50m2 with large bedroom, a closet with a Victorian bathtub and also a properly equipped bathroom. The view is to the large square in front of the Palace with some trees and it may naturally have a few cars parked, it's a city. On the other hand, the Suite Castle or Pool Suite has a window with view to the Castle Walls. The Queen Suite has a view to a small garden with an almond tree and beautiful flowers. Finally, the Royal Cocoa pralines are made inside the Palace property, the first chocolate factory operating from a Palace or Hotel. The Royal Cocoa pralines are made with a selection of the best cocoa worldwide and the fillings with organic, natural and genuine ingredients. Fair trade and sustainability is a major concern to us, buying locally from small farmers most of the ingredients. The visit to Royal Cocoa chocolatier&palace factory and tasting the Royal Cocoa is complimentary to all our guests. About the Surroundings and Gastronomy: The historical city centre of Montemor-o-Novo is lovely and the promenade to the ancient Castle, walk at EcoPista in the ancient railroad, visit the megalitic monuments such as the Caves of Escoural or Cromeleque dos Almendres, do jet ski or skydive, ride a horse, visit some wineries, enjoy a free winery workshop, or visit other towns nearby as Évora, Monsaraz or Arraiolos are just some suggestions to have a few pleasant days with us. On behalf of the local gastronomy we do remind that there are a restaurant with a Michelin Star at Montemor-o-Novo, another pleasantly referred on Michelin Guide and several others with homemade cuisine or more international cuisine. Our meals has several good references, please do check. Just to clarify, at Mercado da Ribeira in Lisboa please don't eat noodles (I don't even know which restaurant do may serve it). To eat noodles you may choose the Chinese restaurant in Montemor-o-Novo, which is ok. It's a pity if you miss the excellent fresh fish at Mercado da Ribeira, ancient biggest fish market in Lisboa that has now several very very good Portuguese Chefs small restaurants. Portugal and Montemor-o-Novo certainly worth a visit and we will continue to do our best to provide our guests the best service and one experience they will remember with joy. Kind regards, Moisés Gama Owner of Palacete da Real Companhia do Cacau Royal Cocoa chocolatier & palace
