Booked and paid in advance stay here for the last night of our honeymoon. When checking in we were advised that the hotel had not yet been paid by Hotels.com. I provided them with a copy of the confirmation from Hotels.com confirming room booked and paid for 9 days previously, but this wasn’t sufficient. I ended up spending 3 hours on what was supposed to be a romantic evening, trying to sort this out. This was hampered by the fact that Hotels.com were unable to contact the hotel as no one was answering the phone. I provided them with the mobile number for the manager which Hotels.com read back to me. They claim they rang this number three times and it rang out, which they confirmed by email. The barman said the manager was at a party and the manager the next day said no call was received. Clearly someone was lying and we were stuck in the middle. The hotel manager was clear this was our issue and not hers. The result was, we were made to pay a second time for the room. If this wasn’t enough, apart from the check-in no other staff member at the hotel wore face masks the entire evening. The waiter and waitress were moving from table to table without PPE and when the chef came out he too was maskless. No wonder the COVID infection cases are rising in this area. Regarding dinner, the food ordered was different to that which was ordered. Where there should have been fondant potatoes there were boiled new potatoes. When the chef was questioned about this response was not far from comical. Apparently because his assistant was off, he was, to quote is own words “out of his depth”. Breakfast did not seem a vast improvement. Despite informing the hotel that my husband does not eat meat, fish or eggs they had not considered what to offer him. One suggestion was to have the cheese that was served on the cold meat platter with some toast. Firstly the cheese was contaminated by the meat and secondly this was a poor suggestion from a guest house that is listed as 4 star. I should have realised this was going to be a challenge before I ordered, but I ordered two medium poached eggs and not surprisingly two solid eggs were delivered. So apart from the room, which had the most spectacular view I would say this was a very disappointing end to our trip and I certainly wouldn’t entertain staying there again or recommending it to anyone unless changes in attitude and behaviour of staff were made. …
Amazing views and a lekker location! Had the best stay at SCM with the best hosts, Leoni and Riaan ♥️ So many things to do, and you’ll meet so many wonderful people along the way. Will definitely come back again for a non-movie-making getaway! Xx
What an unexpected pleasure to find. Great restaurant and wine list that surprised us. Would definitely recommend to have a nice quiet time of relaxation. It is in a valley overlooking mountain ranges that change colours over the course of the day.
Leggendo su parecchi siti di viaggi che lo Swartberg Pass meritava assolutamente una visita , ho cercato un hotel dove trascorrere la notte. Lo Swartberg Manor ha confermato quanto il sito prometteva. Una location splendida dove riposarsi dopo aver visitato lo splendido Swartberg Pass. Proprio davanti alle montagne, dove potersi godere un tramonto mozzafiato. La camera in stile dotata di ogni comfort, il personale pronto a soddisfare ogni richiesta , la terrazza dove sorseggiare un caffe attendendo il tramonto. Relax totale immersi nella natura . Il mattino seguente ci è stata servita una colazione totalmente fatta in casa , molto buona e ricca . L'hotel vale il prezzo pagato, a mio avviso.
