We have stayed here 3 times. The only house bigger than this is Harrison fords house but his is inland and not on the beach. The house is done to perfection and is right on the beach. We have seen leather back turtles at night laying their eggs and have even helped the hatching turtles get into the sea. The largest fish I have ever caught was here just 50 yards off the beach. A whopping 140lb Tarpon and apparently that was a small one. It has an enormous rock pool that is like a pool but better which the kids loved being in.  We went to the best ever music festival here on our first stay called the Tobago Jazz festival which is funny because there was no jazz music. Stars like, Rod Stewart, Whitney Houston (RIP), Shakira and more. All this on a little island of just 50,000 residents.  The scuba diving is fantastic. One of the Unesco world heritage sites here in Tobago we visited is Pigeon point. It was like being  Robinson Crusoe a totally unspoilt paradise. There is even a rain forest here which had the most beautiful butterflies and birds. There were little humming birds in the garden that were fascinating to watch. The location of the house on the island is near the airport which is little more just like a landing strip. You have Mount Irvine and the Hilton golf courses close by. Some excellent restaurants one of which is a Watermill. One night it rained and lots of giant frogs suddenly appeared and hopped through the restaurant.  We even helped the locals who are the loveliest island people pull in a giant net in the bay and then watched as they evenly distributed the catch between all of them. Ahhh if only life for us Londoners were this simple. The staff at the Villa are great and keep the place pristine. Anytime I went fishing, diving, or exploring the island,  the staff always had a relative that could help. Everyone seems related on this island and we felt very safe here and welcomed by all. Finally nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the lapping waves. PARADISE!!

My review will provide information on Hibiscus Villa, located at New Black Rock Road, Tobago, WI. To get internet information to the villa one must do the following. In your browser "type -www.miragetobago.com; the mirage is a hotel with two villas for rent (scroll to the bottom of the page, and the two villas will be listed Bougainvillea & Hibiscus, we stayed at the four bedroom Hibiscus villa. The villas are rentals to groups or families. One of the issues I had with the villa site is that there was not adequate pictures or listing of the villas amenities. However the property manager Gillian Connelly was very gracious in answering all my questions and concerns, we were spending Christmas/New Years and we were doing all our cooking/baking, so we had lots of questions regarding amenities. She is truly the best and my family and I have decided that we will always stay at any of the properties she manages. The Hibiscus Villa is four bedrooms (two upstairs/two downstairs), all with en-suite toilet/bath. the mattresses are very comfortable, but the showers do not have shower curtains, (this is an accident waiting to happen, as the floors are tiled), we spread towels in the floor and hung them out to dry every day. Have to be careful of slipping/falling and even flooding. that is the only negative we found at this accommodation. There is a sitting area between the two upstairs bedroom, with a walk out verandah, with an adjoining enclosed gazebo. Downstairs, kitchen w/counter area and four bar stools, large dining table, with sitting area and TV, (the only TV, in the villa), outside patio with two sets of tables and chairs, and the pool, w/four lounge chairs. Bath/Beach towels are provided, there is a coffee maker, electric stove, microwave, and a two door refrigerator with ice-maker. The villa is gated and is equipped with an alarm system. Note: with the alarm system the gazebo is not connected to the house, so if the alarm is activated one cannot open the upstairs door to go to the gazebo, or sit outside on the upstairs in the night, (you can't really know what is going on downstairs) as we typically hung out, until 2-3AM we only used the gazebo twice in the night as we did not want to not activate the alarm when it got darker. There was a time activating an alarm or being concern about safety in Tobago was not an important issue, but times have changed. Also there are no street lighting, but the villa is also well equipped with outside surrounding lights on the walls as well mounted lanterns on the front gated area. Occupants are responsible for turning on/off the lights. (There is unobstructed view of the beach/ocean from any section of the villa. The beach is out the front gate, make a left, down the steps and you're there, it's about three miles of beach, one can walk down to Turtle Beach Hotel, and have access to jet skies rental, or just stay near the villa. Note that on the beach there is a rock formation do not go over the rock formation, bath to the front of it, and it's adequate enough water for adults and especially young children. The water is very clear, we were able to collect shells. Or walk further down the beach for "adult swim" deeper water. There is an outside pipe at the villa that one can rinse off the sand from the beach (and it's very sandy), I would suggest a bucket or some sort of container be kept by the pipe, which can be used to rinse off adequately, as the pipe is very short and cannot accommodated even a toddler. I did not visit any of the tourist attractions on this visit, other family members went to the Nylon Pool, from the Store bay area, and we all went to the night club Shade, on the Friday night..I was not really impressed the music. I think it should have been a wider variety and also more of the local music, also the DJ kept talking for every song, or only playing four lines and switch to another, I was very bored, maybe he was having an off night. We also went to Sunday school (remember this is not church) it's held at Buccoo Point, and involves steel pan music, soca calypso music, alcohol, totally enjoyed myself. Reminder to be safe if you/when you go out, you can always ask Gillian regarding transportation. Avoid lonely beaches. I love Tobago and have visited from childhood, and it breaks my heart when I read negative news about it, but unfortunately it's the world we all live in.. We connected with a maxi taxi driver "Mr. Tito" we used him for transportation to the reef, and for all out partying. He picked us up from the villa and either he or his wife returned to pick us up, and our pick up hours from partying on average was 4:30 AM, and never had to wait more than three minutes, love them very fun-loving couple.-"Tito Maxi Taxi Service, (Harold Taylor,) jollytito@hotmail.com.

Thank you very much for your detailed and informative review. Overall we are of the opinion that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us and on the island in general. We have taken on-board your comments regarding the showers and a shower curtain is being fitted to the offending shower that has been watering the floor during use! Our apologies for this, however, I am sure we would have rectified this sooner during your stay if it had been mentioned. We are also checking over kitchen equipment to ensure there are correct and efficient utensils available for all types of cooking. We do hope that you will come and stay with us again when, we are sure, Gillian will do her usual and utmost to accommodate you and provide a superb holiday for you. Once again, thank you and we look forward to your return. Jacqui Egan

I had booked one night with a travel agent and all appeared normal until I tried calling them to organise a transfer from the airport. No connection to any of the numbers on their website. Do yourself a favour and organise something else.

Unfortunately we had a Manager that was mis-managing the property and around the time you were visiting they disappeared and left the Island. They no longer work for us and our villa together with another one, close by, are directly managed by Gillian Connelly, an experienced letting agent on the Island. Our villas are available to rent and details and approximate rates are available aon this site. We are very sorry that you felt let down and assure you of our best attention should you visit again. However, I would add that we do not run the villa as a hotel although a smaller number of rooms can be let but it will always be a private let.

we stayed at villa mirage for our honeymoon at our second week and it`s a perfect place, there are not more than 16 guests at once, and the couple running the villa also have a great restaurant in crown point. service was perfect and we loved it, everything clean and the beach ...amazing, as the suite we stayed in ... a perfect seaview...(see the pictures) and comparing to most hotels we saw, you get a lot more for your money there!
