Hébergement à côté du Sea Bead and Breakfast est un excellent be & be à Iqaluit.
We had a gorgeous, spacious room upstairs and the facilities are great. Just buy your own food at the supermarket in town, then store it in their fridge and cook it when you want in their kitchen. Gorgeous views over Frobisher Bay, frozen in winter until May or later. Very comfortable place to stay and quiet, yet within walking distance of the town. Try the Navigator Inn for food, best in town save the brunch at the big hotel on the hill which looks like a Russian army barracks, the Frobisher Inn, but get there early to avoid disappointment, because the Frobisher is popular. The local Innuit come into this restaurant hoping to sell their beautiful carvings, but beware of the dealers who sit at tables nearest the door to grab up the bargains first. Try to get the locals outside and buy from them, but don't bargain too hard, as this is their only income and they don't have much, yet are a friendly and generous race. Lovely people. We used Iqaluit as a stepping stone to going off with local Innuit at Clyde River to spend a week out on the frozen sea ice on a dogsled looking to photograph polar bear. Brilliant experience.…
This nicely appointed B&B sits at the edge of Iqaluit, overlooking Frobisher Bay. The facility is wood paneled, light and spacious. There are 6 rooms (4 with private washroom) but without doubt the best rooms are the two on the upper floor, the larger of which has a private balcony overlooking the bay. The communal areas on the main floor include a well-equipped kitchen, living room area, and an extensive dining area with fantastic views, also with a balcony. Breakfast is self-serve with cereal, toast, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, etc. Guests can also bring supplemental food and prepare meals (not just breakfast) themselves. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking accoutrements. (Note that the dining area may be rented out for meetings during 9-5, and the kitchen may not be available for use during those times. This did not occur during our 6-day stay and we had full use of the common areas including the kitchen during that time.) The owner can pick you up at the airport (with prior arrangement), but does not live on the premises. The owners visit daily to re-stock breakfast items and run the dishwasher. Rooms are not cleaned during your stay except by special arrangement. Note on distances: Iqaluit is not very large, but it is hilly so distances seem further. This B&B is only a couple of kilometres from downtown but to walk seems to take 40 minutes. If you're not up for a lot of walking during your stay, taxis are readily available and inexpensive ($6 flat fee anywhere in town, per person); car rental being another option. There is a coastal path open in the summer which can shorten your walk downtown; you can also reach Apex in the other direction by the same path. This was originally our 2nd-choice B&B but now that we've seen both, this is definitely our 1st choice for future. May not suit people who enjoy the company of B&B hosts full-time, but will suit those who like to come and go as they please and feel like they've rented a whole house for the price of a room.…
