We stayed here several years back and returned to find the place pretty much the same, dated, clean, quaint, and inexpensive. The property is right off the main drag so there is some trucker noise, bud we did not find it difficult to get to sleep. We travel with our dog and J's is pet friendly where no other motel is, and there is a really a nice city park a block and a half behind the motel to the SW. Please take a bag or two to clean up after your pet as the park is clean and kids play there. Looking at some of others comments I am going to mention that the proprietor is not Russian, he is of Polish descent, and not unfriendly, he's just not a tour guide. There is currently some remodeling in some rooms, but we found that to not be an issue with our stay.
On my return Harley trip from Alaska we got hung up and decided we could not make Boise City, OK so I found J's Motel in Springfield. Made a call and got a great rate (better than Boise City) and rolled in. Parked at the door, room was clean and A/C cold. Owner was very nice, did not even require a credit card when I called from Lamar. He was there waiting for us and even showed us to the room. Nice town, has all you need. Rooms are well equipped fridge and TV. Quiet and comfortable
This ain't the Ritz, but it's clean and (the room I was in, anyway) recently refurbished: perfect for me when riding around on my motorcycle Note that this is one of the places probably built in the '50s, with it's horseshoe shape and door that you can back up to. Doesn't have the panache (or price) of a Best Western, but plenty good if you're looking for a place to crash for the night. I was on my motorcycle, so parking right out front was a good thing for me. The price was right, too. I spent $54.00 for one person to spend the night (me). Mattress was good, unlike many of these sorts of places, and I didn't wake up with a sore back. There's steakhouse across the street and one block up, easy to walk to. The only beef I had was the cooling is by window unit, which droned for a bit (even after I turned it down), and I ended up using ear plugs. So consider this place if you're going to overnight in Springfield, Colorado.…
