On the positive side the room was very dark, shower was great and check in was easy. They could use more attention to detail, toilet plunger just left in the hall for both days, water buckets in lobby to catch drips. Breakfast was the worst of the trip, a jimmy dean sausage sandwich and an egg taco type item. Within walking distance of bricktown but I would not do it at night. They do offer a shuttle but we did not try that. Hot tub and fitness area.
Rooms were clean, spacious, and well appointed. The parking lot was spacious and well lighted. We left before the breakfast was served. We will definitely stay here again in the future. The hotel is walking distance to several eateries and the Bass Pro Shop.
Arrived late to check in and no one was at front desk. Number they left to call was disconnected. Unbelievable. Apparently this happens often at night. After 20 minutes of searching I went across the street and got another room
Had a friend come visit from out of town. We had tix booked for a Thunder game and wanted to show them the city! It was about a 10 min walk from Bricktown free parking free WiFi free breakfast. Perfect! Plus the lil kitchen and fitness center. Would def stay here again just longer.
I have several issues with this very new hotel, but the first I will mention is this: I stayed for 2 days in a 2 room suite. The day I was to check out, I had a meeting in the morning, which I drove to and then came back at 10:45. I did NOT check out or tell them I was checking out. I had packed my clothes and put them in the car but I left my laptop out and open to some work I was doing, along with my sun glasses, prescription reading glasses, house keys, receipts, paperwork, an iPad, and some fruit on the counter which I was going to eat for lunch when I got back. When I got back to the room, they had already cleaned up and REMOVED all my items and presumably threw away my receipts and fruit. I ran down to the front desk and asked what was going on? They said I checked out at 9:13 AM! I told them I did NOT and where was my laptop and work. The front desk person came back after a moment and said that housekeeping had "assumed" I checked out and left my laptop. She had my laptop and things stuffed in the laptop bag but missing the fruit and receipts which I am sure housekeeping assumed was trash. I plan to call Choice Customer Service on Monday and ask for my points back which I used to book this time, thankfully. Other IMPORTANT NEGATIVEitems: 1. This hotel is STILL under construction. There is scaffolding and roped off areas outside where they are building what looks like a hot tub or small pool. 2. They share the parking lot with 2 other hotels, one of which is at about 60% contruction, so there is lots of dirt, rocks, metal, etc in the parking lot... There are areas where if you weren't looking at night, you would drive right off the concrete into rebar or dirt. This MUST be some sort of safety violation. 3. This is actually a SLEEP Inn AS WELL AS a MaInstay Suites and when I checked on the website, the SLEEP prices were BETTER. I assume you get the same rooms. 4. There is NO CLOSET space to speak of save for narrow Ikea Style Cabinets. The room I stayed in slept 6 (2 queens and a sofa bed) but had a grand total of 2 hangers in the cabinet. 5. There was 1 nightstand between the 2 beds and NOTHING on ether side to put things. 6. There were NO HOOKS in the bathroom or ANYWHERE to hang ANYTHING other than the towel bars, not even on the doors, which is standard. We had to just lay coats over chairs and throw wet towels over the bathtub. They were folded UNDER the vanity and NOT on towel bars. 7. One of the AC/Heater units had been repaired/replaced, I assume, but the wall had not yet been repainted (or was never painted) around it. Also the window by this a/c was slightly open when we got there. It was 41 degrees and raining outside. 8. One of the chairs already had piping coming off of it and it appeared to be significantly older than the hotel. 9. Bathroom door had laminate coming off of it. 10. The FRONT DOOR to the place is not well marked. It is on the side and there is only a small overhang to accomodate only 1 car to check in. It looks like they are still building the Actual front door. but there were NO SIGNS to indicate this or make it obvious. 11. This hotel is in a very industrial part of town right next to a concrete and dirt yard with lots of mixing and dump trucks driving in and out. 12. The hotel was advertised as walking distance to Historic Bricktown Oklahoma City, and while it is only about 1/2 a mile away, there is no sidewalk on the side where the hotel is (just lots of mud), and it is a busy industrial street next to the Interstate and you have to walk across railroad tracks. 13. Although the location is right next to the highway, you have to travel a circuitous 1.2 miles across railroad tracks and several turns before you get to the highway. 14. While I was in the lobby around 12:30 PM using my laptop that they removed from the room to finish my work, I saw another elderly female guest come back in after walking her dog saying her keys didn't work. Nobody was at the desk and the office light was off. No "be right back" sign. WE spent several minutes walking around before we found housekeeping. Again, this is indicative of a Mainstay suites. They are minimally staffed so I kind of expect this especially between checkout and check in, but its just these little things that could be handled better with a little sign on the desk when the manager ha to go check on a room, or go to the bathroom. ALSO this is another VERY GOOD reason to have those construction areas marked off. This old lady and her dog could have tumbled right into that future spa OR the unfinished pool across the parking lot. There WERE good things, like the bed ws very comfortable, food was good, hotel clean, and the staff friendly, driving proximity to the Hospital area and bricktown; BUT please understand that this is an UNFINISHED hotel in a very industrial (and dangerous for pedestrians) area with NOTHING around it. It is a very austere and minimal hotel with Ikea style college Dorm room furniture and not enough of the things you usually find in a Choice Hotel property like a Comfort Suites or Quality. This is typical of Mainstays I am told. And the stay was tainted by the housekeeping staff taking upon themselves to check me out 2 hours BEFORE the 11 o'clock checkout time without even a call to my cell phone or an email, both if which were on my portfolio. This has NEVER happened to me in hundreds of hotel stays.…
