My husband, our son and daughter-in-law, and our 3 year old granddaughter stayed here this past weekend (Friday through Sunday) and loved it! Thank you Julie for the breakfast items you had waiting for us! Our granddaughter loved the mini muffins and orange juice! And we all appreciated the bananas! We loved the fire pit! We had s’mores on our final night:) Your property is beautiful! And we were just a short drive from both Idlewild Park and Ligonier’s super cute town square! We rented both cottages, which worked so well for us! My husband and I slept in the Bunkhouse, and our son and his family in the Springhouse; and we were all able to hang out in the living room in the Springhouse and enjoy time together:) The kitchen in the Springhouse had everything we needed, though we highly recommend Kitchen on Main! We ate there 4 meals! We’ll definitely stay here again when we return!

These cottages are lesser known for travelers to Ligonier due to limited advertising. I stayed in the very small cottage for two nights until my husband came. For the $75 dollars extra a night go for the Springhouse. You get the entire house to yourself. There is a lovely porch overlooking greens and fields, where we relaxed and enjoyed watching the deer. It was very clean and comfortable adorned with farmhouse décor. If you want breakfast you can bring your own food because there is a large refrigerator and plenty of cookware. You can even use the outdoor charcoal grill.

We stayed here for one night in the Bunkhouse and thought it was lovely: clean, simple and just what we needed for a nice, quiet night away. The location is down a long country road and there is a stream nearby. Because the drive to get to the cottages winds throughout the countryside, you feel like you are in a very remote spot, which we appreciated. Lincoln Highway is actually just on the other side of the stream, but we did not find the road noise to be bothersome in any way. We come to Ligonier every year and will definitely consider booking here again.

Nous avons séjourné ici il y a quelques années et c'était excellent. En dehors de la route et paisible. Les propriétaires avaient tout comme annoncé et étaient très arrangeants. J'espère que nous pourrons revenir à la région très bientôt.

I picked the Cottages for our anniversary because I thought the place might strike a nice, reasonably priced balance between a generic chain hotel and communal B&B. (We aren’t big on B&B’s due to some of my past unfortunate choices.) Plus, based upon the Cottage’s website and other reviews, I thought it sounded very remote and private.
My wonderful wife has been down this road before - on the few occasions when I take charge of the travel arrangements, undesirable accommodations result. So with the bar set appropriately low, we set out for the Cottages at Millbank.
Apparently some bridge was out. The resultant detour to the Millbank Cottages was circuitous, meandering and might have been frustrating after dark. Fortunately, we arrived in daylight. Also, it is the kind of place that defies standard GPS, so we followed the clear, detailed directions emailed to us from the innkeeper Julie. We found it easily.
Though the countryside was pleasant enough, at least three geographic realities keep the Cottages from pegging the charm meter...
1. After all that back country trekking, you end up a couple hundred yards from Route 30, which is clearly visible (and audible), especially with the leaves down.
2. Despite what appears to be a noble attempt by the owners to strategically plant a row of small trees - one can easily glimpse the neighbor’s compound - an impressive collection of broken down vehicles, appliances and scrap wood.
3. The two cottages are a lot closer to the main house than one would reasonably expect.
So as we carried our bags to the smaller of the two cottages (The Bunkhouse), I imagined that my precious wife was thinking “Oh boy, here we go again”.
But as we entered the cabin, we were both pleasantly surprised how tastefully it was decorated. The room was well appointed with a sizable, comfortable bed, complete with clean high quality linens and blankets; some simple end tables; a fashionable sink; and a clean practical bathroom.
In fact, my wife noticed the entire interior place was impeccably clean, and there were some fresh flowers to boot… in the middle of November
.
A few oddities worth pointing out –
1. Though we never saw any other guests or residents of the house, we did hear a dog barking right outside in the morning. This would not have gone over well if we had chosen to sleep in.
2. The landlord was a good communicator over email, but here I sit three days after I checked out, and I still don’t have a bill or a receipt and I haven’t signed anything.
3. If watching TV is high on your priority list, this isn’t the place for you. The TV is tiny.
Weonly stayed one night, but we really liked it in the end. We would stay there again.
