Really Enjoyed Ourselves!

We were in Santa Cruz to attend our niece's wedding. We really enjoyed the peaceful setting and it was great that it was only a couple miles to the park where the wedding was at. We wish we would have had more time to explore, but hey it gives us a good reason to come back! Lolly was great in communicating about the home and letting us know what was going on in the area for fun and food. We really liked Don Quixote's for lunch (wish we could have seen a show!) along with the Trout Farm. Rocky's was great for breakfast. Would definitely recommend this property.
Fun Hideaway

What stood out most to us about this property was its location. I loved that it was so dog friendly with the slider opening to a small fenced gravel yard out front. We loved walking in the neighborhood to the Quail Hollow Reserve which offers a lovely path for dogs and humans alike. The highlight of the bungalow is the oak outside the living room area. When you look out, it feels like you are in a treehouse. Just stunning. The bungalow is small, but cozy. The owner was helpful in giving background and details. A few small frustrations. Dealing with the entry code--we were not able to get until literally the last day. I've never had that happen, and would have appreciated having that sooner. Nevertheless, we got in, and felt the bungalow was a good fit for this trip. It did get warm one night and we did not know they had air, but apparently they do so take advantage of that if it gets warm. Lolly was very attentive, which we appreciated, and I would definitely recommend the bungalow to others.

Amazing Getaway

Our recent stay at the Ben Lomond Bungalow was fabulous! The property and amenities were just as described on the website. The house was clean and comfortable, providing everything needed to feel right at home. The owners were extremely helpful, providing tons of information regarding fun things to see and do nearby, as well as great places to eat. They were also very quick to respond to specific questions we had. An added bonus is that the security deposit has already been returned to my account. Our three night stay was great, we would definitely return and would definitely recommend to others who plan to vacation in the area. Thanks for the great stay.
A Great Spot to Stay

This is one of our favorite places to recharge, relax and visit with family in nearby Scotts Valley. My husband and I are returning for the entire month of July; that speaks volumes. We try to arrange 2 or 3 month- stays over the course of a year. QHMR is out of the Santa Cruz fog, but a short 15-20 minute drive to the beach. The home itself is on a lovely country lane with a spectacular oak tree to gaze upon. I have raved in earlier reviews about the cleanliness, the well-appointed kitchen, the comfortable furnishings, and the beautiful yard with relaxing outdoor seating areas. A newly added garden space with herbs and greens is a nice addition. We take our grandson to Roaring Camp for train rides or river walks; that's a 7 minutes drive. Quail Hollow Ranch is also closer by and has numerous hiking trails to explore. I hope to take my 3 year old grandson on the Sunset Trail this summer; it's a 5 minute walk to the trailhead from the Lindley's home.
Lolly is a terrific landlady and makes sure everything is in order; she is only a text away if you have a question. QHMR is a wonderful retreat, very quiet, and yet close enough to many activities to make it the best of both worlds.

Beautiful home with high end amenities in an isolated area a couple of miles from town.
Would be a great place as a home base if wanting to go to surrounding areas...but you are off the beaten path. If you want quiet, this is the place for you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The owners were very friendly and helpful, with phone calls and emails to make sure everything was set up as we needed it, and giving us suggestions on things to do in the area. The house is tastefully furnished and clean, with high-end appliances and a well-stocked kitchen. The highlight of the property is the meadow out back. Our toddler loved running around in the grass, and we had a lovely time sitting outside at night. The location is remote enough that you feel you're getting away from it all, but an excellent grocery store is only 2 miles away, and all the pleasures of Santa Cruz are only 20 minutes away. Would definitely come back here.

Owner response: Yes this is a wonderful area year around. We are hoping that you and others will come to know the greatness of this area in the winter time as well. Ferns, greenery, and mild winters offer great opportunities to enjoy the coast year around. Winter is also an economical time to get to know this wonderful area.

Property was just as described, we found it clean and well presented. I would recommend this property for a nice relaxing break, the sky at night was a sight to remember. We had our dog with us and all worked well. I think the best part was the location, it was short trips to the small local towns, Ben Lomand, Boulder creek, Scotts valley, Felton and Santa Cruz. We had a great coffee in Felton, shop called the pourhouse.

Relaxing home in the woods

Santa Cruz was a meeting place for our family. We all met from at this lovely home. First thing I noticed was how clean the home was and the oak tree and the beautiful meadow! It really met all our needs. There were 6 of us, and although each of us didn't have our own room it worked out perfectly. We also found it nice to explore to nearby santa cruz and beaches and then come home and make a nice supper and we noticed the new BBQ and had a great time making dinners and relaxing for the evening. Even better was the firepit area in the back. Since there were two teenagers, this was a real hit to have smores for dessert! Love the big meadow, and was just such a homey comfortable feel to the home, with no problems at all. I did notice on my side of the house the rooster decided to have a daily wake up at 4 am, but soon fell back asleep. If you like the hubbub and busyness from a city this may not be the place for you, but if you like to be in nature and relax this is just the perfect place. Glad to have found this for our get together. Got to know the welcoming neighbor lab as well, who came for her daily visits! The smell of the steak probably encouraged her as well. One morning my brother and I went on a hike to a nearby lake that was just lovely and a nice workout too! I have no problems recommending this home for a fun yet relaxing vacation.

On a recent trip to CA with my wife and two young boys (4 and 6) we had to change some plans fairly late in the game and needed to find something in the Santa Cruz area for three weeknights. This property would probably be out of our budget in high season, but the owners had a reasonable, mid-week low season offer posted. We jumped at the chance and were very happy with the choice.
Huge yard for the kids to romp, well stocked and spacious kitchen, warm "off the grid" feel of Santa Cruz mountains while still having all the various creature comforts. The owner was very responsive to a minor problem with one of the fireplaces (maintenance fellow had it fixed first thing the next morning) and the place was very much as advertised.
I have little doubt that for many people this property could warrant an excellent. Depends a bit on what you are looking for. We would have preferred something a smidge closer to Santa Cruz, and I suspect that the chance to lounge about outside around the fire-pit on warm summer evenings, star-gazing, would enhance the experience.

We visit the area often and are absolutely thrilled to have found this quiet and comfy home. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed visiting our new granddaughter in San Jose and also spending time with friends in Aptos. We found the location to be in perfect proximity to both areas. Just a very short drive to Santa Cruz, yet far enough removed from the beach crowds. The house is very clean and comfortable inside and out. The old oak tree is breathtaking, and the huge meadow is soooo quiet and relaxing. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Lolly, while we were there, and she was very kind and gracious...just a wonderful person! I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a special place to stay in the magical Santa Cruz mountains. Thank you, Lolly, for providing such a place. We are looking forward to many more happy returns!
