We spent nine glorious days in 1 of 2 lovely apartments located downstairs of the owner Gillian’s home. It was brightly coloured, well appointed, clean and comfortable. The moment we walked down to the apartment, we were struck by the location’s peaceful ambience, and the breeze through its many fruit trees, including mango, pommerac, and grapefruit. These attributes, coupled with 2 empty adjoining lots, make it a haven for wildlife. As an avid birdwatcher and photographer, I looked forward to waking up every day to the sight and sound of over 20 species of birds including the Trinidad Motmot and to sitting in the garden taking in the tranquility. Our days ended with a swim in the warm salt-water pool and dinner at the table on the deck, both of which are in front of the apartment. The bedroom’s air condition is the quietest I’ve ever experienced which made for thoroughly restful slumber. Gillian is an engaging host while at the same time mindful of her guests’ comfort and privacy. Because we were immersed “in nature” while at the same time centrally located to usual conveniences such as the grocery we look forward to being back again for another stay.
