We had a 3 night stay at the Peaceful oceanfront cabine in Hunts Point, NS. We were very disappointed in our stay as we had no privacy at all. Our privacy was violated 3 times in less than 24 hours by their maintenance employees who failed to announce themselves and would show up on our "private deck". The night we arrived, their handyman appeared suddenly on our private deck unannounced to fix our patio umbrella (which apparently had been overwound by the previous guests). We were a bit shocked to see him but apparently the umbrella needed to be repaired so we didn't say anything.
The next morning, as I was standing in the patio door in my underwear gazing out at the ocean. Suddenly, 2 people appeared unannounced on our private deck again. I opened the door a crack and said "Can I help you?!" The lady indicated they were here to service the hot tub. I was completely embarrassed. I stayed in the villa while they conducted their work. (1/2 hour or so). That night (night#2), their handyman appeared on our deck AGAIN to work on our umbrella (which was broken and fixed on our first night). It was not broken and did not need repair the 2nd night. He must have seen the horrifed look on my face as he came to the patio door and OPENED it without being invited to come in, to explain why he was there. I was ALONE in the villa at the time, as my husband had left to go pickup a pizza in Liverpool. It frightened me when he came to open the door! I was uneasy the entire time we were there and was uncomfortable wearing a bathing suit on the deck in fear of someone showing up and seeing me. I'm a plus sized lady and do not wear bathing suits in public. After being embarrassed by the hot tub people, my husband called the owner and indicated that we would appreciate some respect from the staff who should be announcing themselves before showing up in our private space, where we are half dressed. She said this had been a problem in the past and that she would email her employees immediately and would forward the email to my husband as well. This never happened. She said to my husband in that phone call, that she completely understood and apologized for this. Only a few hours later, is when it happened again when I was alone and her employee entered our private villa. After the handyman showed up when I was alone, my husband called her a second time and advised that we do not wish to stay the 3rd night and that we would like a refund because we were not comfortable with the lack of privacy. We indicated that we would leave before checkout time which was 10am in order for her to try to recoup her money. She agreed and assured my husband she would refund our money, however didn't.
When I emailed her the next day, I indicated that if she did not refund our money as promised, I would be writing an honest review online. She did not reply to my email, so I called her in the evening to confirm receipt of my email. She was extremely rude and wouldn't allow me to speak. She indicated she did receive my email, however because I indicated that I was going to write an honest review that she would not be refunding anything and hung up the phone.
She then refused any further calls. Because I said I would write an honest review, she is refusing to credit the night we were not there, regardless of our agreement and the fact that we were respectful and assured her that we would leave the premises early enough for her to fill the spot for that night. We spoke directly with her to try to repair the situation. She did nothing to help us, and clearly could care less about our privacy. All we are requesting is at the very least, a refund for the night we did not stay since we are losing in excess of $500. (In a perfect situation, I would appreciate a full refund as we did not at all receive what was advertised as a private oasis .
