I went for a 1 week holiday to the Millhouse last summer and am planning on returning again this year. Firstly, the scenery is breathtaking; the drive from the airport to the house was absolutely beautiful. The house is situated within a hotspot of natural beauty, the river runs along the bottom of the garden, which we swam in every day to cool off from the sun.
The upstairs of the house has a vast and beautifully decorated lounge area, which feeds onto a large balcony with a dining table and outdoor seating, perfect for a bit of sunbathing when not down by the pool, which itself was clean, large and had a number of sun loungers of its own. We spent most of our day time down by the pool area which was basked in warm sun.
The bedrooms were all clean, tidy, comfortable and mine had a decently sized ensuite. I particularly loved the provincial shutters on our windows!
The other rooms were also spacious, clean and tidy, with an enormous room at the top of the house.
The kitchen was big enough for our whole group to cook together, with everything we needed to hand. I am surprised to read the previous review stating that the kitchen was unclean- this was certainly not the case for us. There is a TV area which was great also, but we rarely used it as we were busy soaking up the outdoors most of the time.
Only a short drive away were various villages and towns, humming with that quintessentially french lifestyle that we were looking for during our stay. The entire area was a feast for the senses, markets with amazing food and wine, and jazz musicians treating the cafes to some Django Reinhardt on their guitars.
Overall, I had a wonderful time here and would love to return this summer. It was everything we wanted for the perfect South of France escape from London! Many thanks to the owners for making it as easy and comfortable as it was.

Musty Smell
Have to agree with previous review. Our stay was disappointing. The bad far outweighed the good. Starting from the very musty smell when we first walked in to the house to the stifling hot bedrooms on the top level, the house was just not up to scratch for the amount of money we paid. We never got the TV to work despite numerous calls to the owner and local manager. The wifi was atrocious and basically could not be used unless you were in the room with the router, so basically no wifi on 1st and 2nd levels.

Disappointing
Our group of 6 friends stayed at the Old Mill (Le Vieux Moulin) at Arles sur Tech for 2 weeks in July. The house has some wonderful features but sadly, for us, the bad outweighed the good.
Beautifully located in the Pyrenees Orientales, an area of spectacular natural beauty, the house is ideally located to explore the area. Collioure, Carcasonne, Prats de Molo, Les Gorges de la Fou, all are within a couple of hours drive or less. The beautiful river Tech runs behind the house and there is a swimming hole just a few minutes walk away. The house is very large: the upstairs lounge is lovely and leads out onto a terrace with a wonderful view to the mountain behind the house. The two bedrooms on the third floor are spacious and share the family bathroom which is simple but clean and spacious.
Unfortunately the rest of the house didn't live up to our expectations (and a valuable lesson was learned about renting a holiday house about which there are no online reviews). The bedrooms and bathrooms on the second floor are pretty ordinary, the ground floor kitchen, lounge and dining area are dark and airless. The whole house smells strongly of damp, although the large bedroom on the fourth floor is stiflingly hot as the windows leading onto the crumbing balcony cannot be opened. We were never able to get the rather complicated TV set up to work. Most disappointing was that when we arrived the kitchen was not clean. We had to wash every item before using it. Our email to the owner (who does not live in France) about the state of the kitchen triggered an unfortunate response from the local manager who declined to assist us with any queries we had about various things in the house. Contrary to what we had been led to believe there was no mid-stay clean.
We are mature experienced travellers who have rented rural houses in Europe on a couple of occasions, and appreciate that in a house as old as the Mill (which is why we chose it) some facilities will be less up to date than in more modern properties. We did not expect that we would have to clean the kitchen before using it and that some of the equipment would be unusable. No solution was offered, rather we were informed that for the price we paid (nearly 5,000 pounds ) we should not expect "hotel standards."
