This was our fourth vacation in Tobago, staying at Chaconia, and definitely not our last.
Our son and his new wife chose to return to Chaconia, to exchange their vows on the beach in front of Black Rock Dreams.
Our introduction to Chaconia was in 2014, and we made a pact to travel to Tobago every second year, unfortunately life and COVID got in the way.Tobago is not a wild and crazy place to vacation, it is the gentle sister to Trinidad, with clean unspoiled beaches and mountainous rain forests. Renting a car, driving on the left hand side of the road is an adventure itself, although there are drivers that are readily available take you where you want/need to go.
That being said, changes have been made during our 4 year absence, lighting, windows, decor, and staffing for Black Rock Dreams itself. the changes have only improved the comfort and convenience of Chaconia.
Liz, your main point of contact, the Property Manager, is a wealth of knowledge for the property as well as the island. She made a point of asking our plans for the days and advised weather and sea conditions, to ensure we knew what to expect. When you are travelling in a foreign country/island, it is good that someone knows where you plan to go, in case of car trouble etc. Liz is kind, caring and accommodating. We had to change our numbers and dates several times due to flight and vacation date changes.
Lenore, who has been cleaning and caring for Chaconia and its guests for as long as we have been enjoying the unit, is a sweet, funny lady. She kindly instructed my husband how to cook roe(fish eggs), which the fisherman included in the package when we bought fresh fish from him. Lenore always has a smile, and knows where everything is in Chaconia.
Chaconia is the best Home Away from Home that we have found, and we were discussing when our 5th trip will be, and we hadn't even left.
The pictures are accurate, the beds are comfortable, the showers have great water pressure, and plenty of hot water, even our first trip with 6 of us. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to cook for yourself, if that is your thing. We used the kitchen for breakfast and either lunch or dinner, opting to eat out once a day.
FYI, Chaconia is located within easy walking distance of 4 restaurants, a pizza place, a coffee shop and a bar to enjoy the local music and people.
Your safety and security is important to Liz and the owners Jane and Alan, with a security system and security gates if you need that to add to your peace of mind.
If you want to enjoy a Caribbean vacation, and get to know the culture, you owe it to yourself to stay at Chaconia, and experience all it and Tobago have to offer.
Jane and Alan,
Thank you for sharing your home with us!
