Amazing property
This one bedroom flat has everything you need and more. The owners can’t do enough and make it just like home.

Excellent stay
WOW what do I say about the Annexe we had a wonderful stay it is so spotless and spacious home from home our first holiday in Scotland but not our last , Fiona has done a wonderful job she has thought of everything in the Annexe the bed was so comfortable , the village was lovely a nice pub the Olde Inn Edinburgh is a great place lots to do and places to see thank to Fiona and Al Dee and Ron Sams

Lovely place
I highly recommend this place! Really nice, spacious and very tidy (also looks much better in reality than in pictures). Excellent communication with the owners.

Perfect home from home accommodation
Immaculately clean and superbly maintained spacious accommodation close to lots of amenities. There is plenty of off-street parking and the owners, Al and Fiona are very attentive and helpful. Restaurants, bars and bus services are only about 200 metres in the old village of Davidson Mains. Regular bus services will take you to Princes Street (the main tourist centre) in about 15 minutes; you really wouldn't want to drive into central Edinburgh! We were very comfortable staying here and I really can't rate The Annexe highly enough. Superb!

Gem of a place to stay quiet but with all you need
Just back from a wonderful stay at the Annexe. Fiona and Alistair couldnt have been more welcoming. Accommodation was first rate plenty of room and all the facilities that you ever need a home from home, in our case better we where thinking of squatting. Apart from the inside access to large garden out the back, the property is built amid an old orchard so apple, pear and plum trees in garden, plenty of wild life including a squirrel, who we christened Cyril which we sat and watched. Fiona also has a couple of lovely dogs who often play out in the garden, when Fiona is with them, both very friendly. Bus service Number 41, to town is every 15 minutes during the week, would recommended going after 9a.m. in morning as bus can be busy earlier. Cafe, pubs supermarket and a few shops just over 5 minutes away in Main Street, decent pint and pub food in the Ye Olde Inn in Main Street. Plenty to do in Edinburgh and round about outside of the festival period and a good base to travel from, the new Forth Road bridge for instance is only about 15 minutes away by car from Annexe. Would highly recommended the Annexe as a place to stay will be back.

Perfect in every way
The Annexe is situated in a perfect location to explore the city of Edinburgh, it's very peaceful and felt very secure at the end of a private road with a bus stop close by & the city only 15 mins away. The accommodation is top quality with everything you need for a relaxing stay and Fiona & Alistair are perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful. We will certainly recommend to friends and will book again hopefully for a longer stay next time!

The best place to stay visiting Scotland
If I could give the Annexe more than 5 stars, I would. In my opinion, this is the place to stay. It is in a perfect location. It is steps away from a main bus line going into Old Town Edinburgh. It is also very close to a bus line along the main road in the village that can take you to The Royal Botanical Gardens or Stockbridge if you want additional shops, cafes, or pubs. (I took advantage of this and found it to be so easy that I went to the Gardens several times). It is also within walking distance (maybe 10 minutes) of Lauriston Castle which has a very nice café and a garden area to walk around in or sit and view the Firth of Forth. You could also walk down to the beach at Cramond Island. Down there is also a very nice pub which has great food, or there’s a café if you want some coffee or Lemon Drizzle Cake or a meal. However, you can use a third bus option also available along the main road in the village to take you close to the beach area if you don’t want to walk. I enjoyed the walk and made use of it several times. The village of Davidson’s Manes was quite a happy finding. I wasn’t familiar with it before. It has stores and pubs close at hand. If you want to cook meals, the Annexe has ample utensils and such. It’s well prepared. If you want to go out but remain close, there are places in the village to go. (I took advantage of both). Fiona and Alistair were experts at hosting people at the Annexe., (it was obvious they had done this before many times by their efficiency and kindness.) They provided privacy should it be wanted or were immediately available for information if there was something I needed to know. They already had everything required before I arrived including maps and a list of things available to do either in the village, or anywhere around Scotland should you decide to go on day trips. The bus that would take you to Old Town went right along Prince’s Street if you want to do shopping there. It also went by Waverly Station if you are venturing to other places. I have some friends in Scotland, and they remarked at what a great place and location it was. (High praise indeed). I was so spoiled by the Annexe, and Fiona and Al, I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. I was that impressed!

Perfect apartment from generous hosts
We stayed at the Annexe from July 7 to July 21 2017. The good standard in the apartment was in exactly the same way as in the description on the website and had every possible utensil we needed for our stay. At the arrival we received a warm welcome from Fiona. We were especially pleased with the beautiful fresh flower arrangement in the entrance hall that Fiona had arranged for us. Fiona and Al were generous hosts during our entire stay in Edinburgh. They took very good care of us during our stay, were always helpful answering our questions and giving us helpful recommendations and advices for our activities in Edinburgh. We really enjoyed our time in Scotland. The Annexe had everything we could possibly need around our activities in the area of Edinburgh. We want to revisit to Edinburgh next year and will for sure try to get the same lovely apartment. Best wishes from Jule and Frank, Dresden, Germany

Great option for staying in Edinburgh area
We recently stayed in the Annexe for 4 nights. Fiona and Al are great hosts and have truly provided everything you need for a comfortable stay. While we were there, Edinburgh experienced an unusual "heat wave", 30C+. I will say that the Annexe stays very comfortable. You can easily open windows for air, but Fiona also had a stand-up fan in the closet in the unit. Perfect! This is indicative of the attention to detail that has been put into this rental unit. The unit was a great size with a nice-sized bedroom, bathroom, hall and open kitchen/dining/living room which is quite spacious. Plenty of light in the unit. It is recently, tastefully renovated. A perfect cottage just outside the city center. (Easily obtainable on a direct bus from just down the private street/drive. There is also ample parking area on the property. Seriously though, Fiona has thought of everything that you will need for your stay! There are breakfast basics in the refrigerator for you! Their village is well equipped with a great pub in walking distance and a grocery market for any cooking needs, if you want to save money from eating out in restaurants. Location is further convenient for trips "further afield". We easily drove to many out-of-town locations, such as Rosslyn Chapel. The Annexe is convenient to major arteries in and out of town. If you are concerned about not being "right in" the city center, then consider the pros and cons. This is a personal unit (part of someone's home which is on site), but it is private with a separate entrance and Fiona and Al do everything to NOT bother you during your stay! (However on site for any potential needs) You also have a detailed book in the unit with travel/transportation information and multiple brochures regarding things to do, restaurants, etc. It is off the main road, and very quiet and relaxing. The bus comes regularly as decent intervals, and quite economical. I will finish by saying that Scotland (Edinburgh) has so many wonderful things to visit/see/do, that I am planning to be back. My first option will be to contact the Annexe for availability and plan my itinerary around that! Scotland is not only a beautiful country to visit, they have truly wonderful people. We met several people during our recent trip who are truly genuine, friendly, helpful and kind which includes Fiona and Al.

Fantastic Accommodation and location
What fantastic accommodation. The Annex is a really great place to stay. It manages to be spacious , comfortable, well equipped and homely and all without compromising on quality. Although we were out for much of the day time we felt that we wanted to be indoors in the evening benefiting from what The Annex offers. Fiona and Alistair are also very helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. We will definitely book The Annex again the next time we stay in or anywhere near Edinburgh.
