If you ever get the chance to stay in Scotland, the Kellas Lodge is dreamy. It's charm and character are timeless. The house is full of unique and beautiful features. From the quaint details of the doors and windows to the warmth and coziness of the living room and fireplace, Kellas is a home away from home.
The location is ideal for exploring Northern Scotland. In less than 30 minutes, you can walk the Moray Coast, visit world class whisky distilleries and explore a historic cathedral city. The view outside the kitchen window is breathtaking. Access to Elgin is easy and the drive is scenic. There are plenty of stores to find everything you need, including fresh produce, local restaurants, great takeout, coffee on the High street and a a superstore that has EVERYTHING! Wine and whiskey included. Try the local beers.
The kitchen has everything you need from brewing a great coffee to cooking a great meal. . Explore the pantry for charming dishes.
The bathroom has a great tub/shower that provides a place to soak or a quick shower. It has two windows that provide natural light not found in most places.
The two bedrooms are charming and cozy. My 7yr old son land I loved sitting on the window ledges, with views of stunning scenery unique to each window. We loved watching the stars and the storms, the pheasants and the sunsets. The windows open so we could stick our feet out and breathe in the fresh air and listen to the birds.
Viv and Roy are gracious and welcoming host, from the day you arrive until the day you leave. They are available for questions or help with directions or ideas to make the most of your visit. There is a nice TV tucked away in a beautiful cabinet. It has a DVD player. Using the wifi is simple. The book shelves in sitting room a variety of books and magazines. You will love the different places in the lodge to relax or work.
A Note to future guests ~ Make sure you can handle stairs. The bedrooms are upstairs.
Although there is no washer/dryer, access to a laundry facility is close. Maybe a 12 min drive (yes, we timed it)
The lodge is self-catering and private. If you crave loud noises and people, it's not for you.
If you crave a personal retreat, it's' perfect. The Lodge gives you the chance to live on a traditional hunting estate.
I have already planned my next trip to Scotland and I will stay at the Kellas Lodge. I look forward to sharing this treasure with my family and friends. If there are more of us, the Kellas house is spectacular. There is no place else that you can compare the lodge.
Scotland is full of history. Explore. We loved Findhorn Beach, Culloden Battlefield, Inverness, and the list goes on.
Warning: it will be hard to leave. Soak up each moment at the Lodge, the estate, the stunning surroundings and the peace and beauty unique to Kellas. Enjoy!
