When considering suitability, please note that access to the flat is via a steep cobbled path, or, alternatively across uneven stepped paving slabs and a staircase. The flat is the top floor in a small block of three; there is no lift. No car? No problem! We're a 5min stroll from the train or bus Lancaster is an ideal base for really getting to know the North-West of England. The immediate area is very beautiful, with forests, moorland, hills and coast accessed in minutes by car, bus, and rail. Having large universties, historic Georgian architecture, beautiful parkland, and vibrant local arts scene, Lancaster has a lot to keep you busy! If that's not enough, the Lake District is half an hour away, there are several country houses and historic sites to visit, and Manchester only an hour by car or rail if you're missing the big city. The flat is perfectly situated for all amenities - step outside and you're right by Lancaster Castle! Fashionable cafes, restaurants, and bars are minutes' walk away, and the twice-weekly market a great place to shop. There are plenty of supermarkets also in close walking distance. The Dukes Theatre, The Grand Theatre, the Gregson Community Arts Centre and the Nuffield Theatre (at the University) all offer excellent cultural events and activities. IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO NOTE: please ensure you have read ALL details below so that you can be confident our place will be a 'good fit' for your stay: . There is no maid service, but we will replace linens during stays >1 week. HOUSE RULES: We are STRICTLY NON-SMOKING. This is a requirement of our insurance, so we host only non-smokers. The use of candles is strictly prohibited and you may not use them in any part of the property. We are the top flat (of three) in a converted building, with shared access across a small courtyard; relationships with our neighbours below, and across the way really matter - we expect guests to look after our property, and our standing with our neighbours, by being peaceful, polite and tidy. If you're looking to host a party, this is not the right place. Visitors to the property must be only those discussed and agreed with us in advance. We need to know who is staying at our flat so please provide full names of people travelling with you before agreeing the booking; please note - only those identified in this prior agreement are entitled to stay overnight. For your comfort and hygeine, and to reduce noise for our neighbours below (as well as to protect our pale coloured carpets!), we require you to remove outdoor shoes before entering (to be left on the outside landing) - so do pack your slippers, or you can borrow some slipper-socks to use during your stay! Hair dyes ruin the white grout in our tiled bathroom, and stain our towels; we therefore ask you not to use our place to colour your hair. Remember that our gas, electricity and water are all metered, so ensure that care is taken to use amenities responsibly, saving power and water where possible. Turn lights and appliances off when not actually needed. Please look after our property and leave it in the same clean and tidy state you found it. We make sure everything is lovely, clean and fresh for your arrival, and with no cleaning charges, we expect you to return it in a similar state. There is no maid service, though we will refresh linens and towels for those staying more than a week. The everyday cleaning is down to you - we don't expect to return to dirty dishes, kitchen mess etc! Damage and breakages (beyond the inevitable, occasional glass etc) will be reported and charged for. Sorry, strictly no pets. Please note, in the case of significant violation of house rules, the reservation will be immediately terminated and all fees forfeited.Plus

En général, je tiens à saluer les invités, dire bonjour, initier les gens à la propriété et montrer comment les choses fonctionnent, et les clés de transfert. Avec préavis, nous pouvons prendre des dispositions pour auto-enregistrement devraient les invités arrivent à un moment où je ne peux pas être là. Nous vivons à proximité et peut être contactée au cours de votre séjour, ou si nous sommes hors de la ville, prendre soin de rester joignables par téléphone. Quand il est temps de votre commande, nous allons convenir d'un temps pour moi de pop vers le bas pour dire au revoir, ou faire un arrangement pour sécuriser la propriété et en laissant les clés si votre emploi du temps ne se marie pas avec le mien!

An outstanding position: The flat is ideally placed for exploring Lancaster. It is about a two minute walk from the city centre, restaurants and the market and very close to the train station. Most importantly, it is at the foot of the castle making the location unmatchable. Excellent facilities, comfortable, with plenty of space, and lots of luxuries - a real home away from home. The flat contains books, games, DVDs, travel guide and almost any thing else you could think of. Very friendly host, happy to help. We found fresh bread, milk and butter as well as many of the small things you would need to cook. A great position for visiting Lancaster and venturing into the Lake District or the coast. First class location - comes very highly recommended!

This flat across from the Castle is in a perfect location. It has character, is extremely comfortable and well appointed, and Cathy is a lovely host.

The house is very close to the supermarket & town center for shopping. The area is quiet & good for relaxing & studying. It is full of cooking facilities & clean. Washing machine provided,good for family short stay even longer.

We loved our stay here. Perfect location (unrivalled castle views from main bedroom and only a few minutes’ walk from both train station and town centre), spotlessly clean, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cosy, with plentiful hot water too, much appreciated after the regular drenching we received on our walks! Our host had thought of every detail and provided such plentiful useful local information that we are already planning a return trip to cover everything we didn’t have time for - highly recommended.

A very comfortable apartment, spotlessly clean, in an excellent location. Just a few minutes walk from the station in a quiet area but just minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants in the town. River walks are very close and in the other direction there are canal side walks passing close to the Cathedral. The apartment has everything you need for a lovely peaceful break.

We spent two weeks at Nip Hill and everything was perfect from the very beginning. The flat is exactly as published. It is roomy and extremely well equipped. Its location is simply amazing. You are no more than 500 meters from the train station, 250 meters from the main bus station, 300 meters from the shopping area. (Yes, I measured the distances....). And the castle is at your very door. The rooms are luminous, bedding and towels clean and in more than enough quantity. The kitchen makes you feel at home, if you like cooking while traveling it has everything you would reasonable need. The property is very well cared for. One word for Cathy, the owner; she took the time to arrange for our late arrival and to come and meet us and have a nice chat. Thank you!.

Great location for visiting the local area or The Lake District. Due to being within walking distance of the Railway station ,You can use public transport to explore the area or to travel by train from around the UK to Lancaster from London/Scotland/Wales or Northern/Eastern/southern/Western England This is great if you do not want to drive as I did traveling up from London In about 2 and half hours. The Flat is large and well set out with everything you would need to self cater, With Sainsburys and the town centre within 5 minutes walk. Would recommend this rental to anyone wanting a great holiday location . Cathy the owner meet me as agreed, with a warm welcome full of information regarding the flat and there was a great collection of books and map of local area . Excellent all round

Lovely clean flat with all the things we needed for a week stay, and more. The location was perfect for exploring the local city and really close to the station so great for exploring e surrounding area as well without using the car. Really helpful and friendly owners.

Io e mia moglie abbiamo passato quasi 2 settimane in questo appartamento in zona centrale di Lancaster vicino al Castello (che abbiamo poi scoperto essere un tribunale civile e penale con annesso carcere dove fino a non troppo tempo fa venivano anche eseguite pene capitali). L' appartamento è molto confortevole e dotato di una camera matrimoniale con letto più stretto degli standard italiani e di una piccola cameretta con letto singolo. Poi c'è una cucina abitabile con tavolino per 2 per colazione, un bel soggiorno con tavolo grande, due divani e tv (oltre a molti giochi di società e libri interessanti messi a disposizione dalla simpatica Cathy) e infine un bagno con vasca e doccia. L' appartamento è dotato di tutto per poter cucinare e per la pulizia personale. Qualche problema con la connessione Wi-Fi ma poi ci siamo arrangiati. Tutto sommato è in una zona tranquilla e poco trafficata, a parte il passaggio in piena notte di qualche ubriacone molesto che ci ha svegliati di soprassalto non essendoci, essendo uno stabile antico, finestre insonorizzate. Altro problema, comune sia a Lancaster che nel resto dell' inghilterra, è quello dei parcheggi. Non esistono parcheggi liberi ( se non nelle ore notturne) e il costo del parcheggio dovunque è veramente oneroso. Di fronte all' appartamento c'è un parcheggio a pagamento ma gratis solo dalle 18 alle 8.00, quindi se si esce prima di quell' ora tutto bene, sennò bisogna scendere e pagare altrimenti la multa salata è certa.

Lancaster is easily accessed from the North or South from the M6 (junction 33 or 34);<BR>Our apartment is a five minute walk from either Lancaster train station, or from the bus station. There are excellent and regular rail connections - to/from South from London (<3 hours) Manchester/Manchester Airport (1 hour city/75 mins to airport) and North to/from Carlisle (1 hour) Edinburgh and Glasgow (around 2 hours)<BR>There is nearby car parking (paying) - some long term, and some metered street parking.

Notre appartement est idéalement placé - à quelques minutes des commerces du centre-ville, et à seulement cinq minutes à pied de la gare. (Pas de bruit des trains - ne vous inquiétez pas - il y a une colline et un château entre la gare et notre place!). Lancaster est une ville compacte (en fait, techniquement une ville, mais un petit!) Et est facilement accessible à pied, avec des théâtres, des parcs, des bars et des cafés tout commodément à proximité. Manchester, Carlisle, Glasgow et Edimbourg par des trains rapides ont atteint et réguliers, et il y a des trains locaux aussi. La gare routière, pour les routes à travers Lancaster et Morecambe (y compris un service régulier à l&#39;Université), Lancashire et Cumbria Sud, est à cinq minutes aussi. Lancaster se trouve juste à côté de l&#39;autoroute M6 si vous voyagez en voiture.
