Great Combination of Pleasurable Sailing and ASA Instruction
My wife and I were looking for a Caribbean charter that would combine the discovery of new islands with additional ASA instruction. In choosing BSV, we could not have made a better choice. From the front office staff of Jessica and DeShanne to our ASA instructor, Captain Alex and his first mate, Chef Christie, our experience was pleasurable from start to finish. Jessica and DeShanne handled all the charter details, answered our questions, and kept us well-informed as the charter date approached. On board, Captain Alex and Chef Christie were welcoming, friendly and professional. Alex never missing an instructional moment during our entire week of sailing. In addition to demonstrating his captain's expertise, he somehow coordinated his on-board, textbook instruction with our daily practicing of hands-on sailing skills for four different ASA courses spread among six students, each of us taking at least 2 courses. As the charter approached, I was particularly curious, if not a little concerned, with how my ASA 105 (coastal navigation) course - which is plotting intensive - would be taught and administered on-board. I needn't have worried. Alex broke the plotting lectures into manageable segments over the course of the week, and paired me with a great study partner for both ASA 105 and ASA 106. My wife had the same experience with her ASA 103 and ASA 104 courses. The end result was about the best learning environment we could have imagined. And, of course, making this experience so pleasurable were the delectable gourmet meals, wine, and afternoon boat drinks served up by Christie, keeping us all in a great vacation mood all week long. Way to celebrate an 80th Birthday!!
Great way to welcome an 80th birthday!
20 family members and 3 boats....with with Danny, Hannah, Eric, Brianna, and my crew Kim and fabulous caption Lavonne (V). The crew could not have been more accommodating to our wishes. We rafted each night for dinner together and experienced new adventures each day...with Christmas on a private Cay and a hamburger feast for lunch. Lots of fishing and fabulous snorkeling.
A trip of a lifetime.

Excellent experience, learned so much from Captain Alex which has prepared me for my next bareboat charter.
I had a great time sailing on the 50 foot Lagoon cat, Captain Alex was awesome and a first rate instructor since I wanted more in depth experience. First mate Brianna was fantastic and her food was delicious but be careful playing liars dice she is the champ.The only downside was the weather did not cooperate which did limit some of the spots we where planning on visiting. Overall a great trip and especially meeting Dennis and Jen.

Belize Caribbean Sea Trip of a Lifetime!
My family sailed with BSV over the Thanksgiving week. We traveled with two other families. 6 adults, 6 kids. From the very first second, the captains Manny and Danny as well as the first mates/chefs Bre and Hannah were amazing. Danny and Hannah held the kids down on the kids catamaran and Manny and Bre held us down.
The kids had THE BEST TIME EVER MOM! The crew took such good care of them. We felt like instant family!
The food was AMAZING. We literally ate what we (the kids) caught every day. Bre and Hannah have the right touch from the snacks, to desserts through breakfast, lunch and dinner. The rooms were very nice. The absolute serenity of being out on the water with no one else in sight is hard to describe but I still close my eyes and try to transport myself back there.
The captains knew all the right islands to take us to and where the best snorkeling was. They knew where to go and how to ensure a peaceful nights sleep. The ladies made sure we had a steady supply of the drink of the day, with or without etoh!
I would absolutely recommend BSV and we certainly will plan another trip with them in the future!

Great Boat, Great Crew, Great Fun

Just returned from a week sail on Belize Sailing Vacations’ Bali 46 with Captain Shane and First Mate Ellen. It was perfection. We were seven – four adults and three grandkids – 8,10, and 12. We all had a great time with lots of snorkeling, swimming, exploring and wonderful dining. Shane is a great captain and Ellen a great cook. Shane took us to the best places for snorkeling considering the winds and water state. Ellen prepared each meal with great care. The table was always beautifully set, the food beautifully presented and always equal to a fine dining experience. My wife and I have chartered numerous times, near and far, sometimes bareboating, sometimes with a crew, but I must admit, this was the best crewed charter ever – and that’s saying a lot.

Best 60th birthday imaginable!
I celebrated my 60th with 8 peeps on a 5 night cruise with BSV aboard Magnificent! This team is outstanding and I highly recommend them. In addition to a fun trip of sailing, snorkel, small island bar hoping and amazing food- I had wanted a special birthday celebration on a secluded island and boy did they deliver! If you are looking for 5 star service and a unique experience in amazing Belize -they will deliver. This was my second trip with them and I can't wait to go back again!

Simply the best combination of ASA instruction and cruising!
This was the best sailing experience of my many years sail chartering. I combined the charter with completing ASA 104, 106 and 114. Lavonne is not only an accomplished sailor, she was an attentive and supportive instructor. While learning was an important part of our experience, we also had time to swim, snorkel, kayak and SUP in the warm, clear Bélizien sea! Christi is an amazing chef, each meal was skillfully crafted with the freshest ingredients, including ceviche from fish we caught an hour before! I will be back again soon and highly recommend you to sail with this company!

An AMAZING Charter in Belize!!!!
Just returned from a week chartering in Belize with Belize Sailing Vacations on a 50 ft Catamaran, (NoWhere) and if I could give it higher than 5 stars I would. The boat was luxurious, spacious, comfortable and had all the toys and amenities you would want on a charter. But above and beyond the luxury and amenities were the crew, LaVonne and Christy, who were the captain and chef. The service they provided was beyond 5-star over and over. Every time you turned around one of them was there with a cold drink, an exotic cocktail, a towel after an ocean swim, an appetizer brought to you as you sunned on the deck, or just to share local knowledge. They had a fishing line going most of the trip and if you haven't eaten fresh fish caught live an hour ago then grilled or turned into ceviche you haven't lived! I can't speak highly enough about the food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were like eating at your favorite local restaurant and accommodated every food type, Vegan, Plant based, Carnivore...From Conche fritters and Lobster to Thai food or classic American fare of cheeseburgers and chili. I have chartered all over the world and cannot recommend Belize Sailing Vacations more highly!

Best boats, best company, and best captains and chefs
Having read all the reviews on this company and having previous experience with another sailing charter company in Belize I thought booking with BSV would be an upgrade to our previous experience. My initial contact was with Jessica and she was a delight to work with – answering all questions in timely fashion. I kept thinking that this whole thing was too good to be true and the personable feel of this company was just too good. But when we arrived at the airport in Belize City, our first contact was with John (driver who picked us up at the airport) and he came in a first class vehicle and was not your ordinary driver—you got the feel that you were going on a Ritz Carlton cruise. Lovely gentleman and full of information and delivered us to our hotel (having arrived the night before our departure from the marina). Next day, again right on time he picked us up and delivered us to the marina to meet our captain and chef (Rueben and Ellen). The boat was in excellent condition (Fountain Pajot 47) and right away I felt we had hit the jackpot with Rueben and Ellen. But frankly, I had no idea HOW special this duo was and how terrific this vacation was going to be. Over the next 7 days we had the time of our lives with Rueben – and I’d call him the hardest working captain with a personality that will ensure you have the time of your life aboard. He has the attitude that he’s going to make your vacation exactly what you want it to be. He knew our backgrounds when we arrived and knew exactly what we wanted out of this trip. This was my 3rd sailing charter in Belize and this time was by far the best and most relaxing trip ever! And I credit Rueben for showing us some of the “secret” sides of Belize that most tourists wouldn’t see (he has connections) – and Ellen was a perfect complement to his energy – serving up truly works of art in both the food and beverage department. After spending a week with someone and getting to know them, I can vouch for the fact that BSV does an exceptional job in vetting their staff and providing a quality product and quality experience for their guests. This captain and chef team went out of their way EVERYDAY to provide an outstanding experience for the four of us aboard. Like a lot of other reviewers have noted, we anxiously await our next vacation with BSV in the Spring of 2025 with Rueben and Ellen. And one last note: my wife and I owned a sailing charter company in Miami for 33 years and did what Rueben and Ellen do so we know the work and planning that goes into each charter. My expectation for this vacation was blown away by what I experienced in our week sailing around Belize. It was special but also exceptional in what we experienced with BSV – leaving all of us with memories etched and photos to match about the beautiful surroundings and hospitality of our captain and crew. BSV is the Ritz-Carlton of sailing charter companies!!
