Getting to Whortleberry Island is well worth the effort. The house is an open plan with four sliding glass doors to bring the outdoors in, and yet the privacy is near total due to vegetation, distance from neighbors, and house orientation. Bring everything you need for the stay, as you won't want to leave once you arrive. Overall, a great experience and one we won't forget.

We just got back had a great time. Fishing is great anywhere on the lake including the dock. We lucked out nobody was staying at the other houses so it was like we had that side of the island to ourselves.

With this trip being our first time in Winnipesaukee, we wanted a vacation that was unique and memorable. We decided that staying on an island and using our 21' Crownline as transporatation for the week would be fun, and it was! This cabin was a great experience for our small group! Ralph was quick to respond to my many questions about the property, and the information he provided was very helpful. There are a lot of logistics to work through with parking, groceries, and boat ramps when unfamiliar with the area. The cabin was very clean and had all the comforts of home. Ralph's island survival guide was entertaining to say the least and provided useful tips about island life! The property itself is heavily wooded, so don't expect paved walkways and manicured lawns here! The cabin has a rustic feel and is decorated with many interesting artifacts. The beds are comfortable and all appliances worked well. We had one rainy day while there, and made use of Ralph's extensive board game and DVD collection. On two evenings, we utilized his kayaks and canoes to paddle around the island which was a really nice time. This rental property was a great experience for us. Thank you!

My family had a wonderful stay. It was quiet and relaxing. Although we have a 18'ft I/O boat, we spent most of the time in the canoes and kayaks, exploring the Whortleberry and surrounding islands. We'll be back next year.

If you're looking for solitude, loons, and a much-loved retreat, this is a wonderful place to stay. The owner is very responsive and it felt like home. You'll find everything you need, from canoes to kitchen amenities. Great space for responsible adults and older children.

My family and I just spent a week at Ralph's house on Wartleberry Island and had a lovely time. The house is vintage, but has everything you need for a great vacation. The fish off the dock were plentiful and hungry and the high bush blueberries kept our 6 year old busy for hours. Consider renting a boat for your stay at the nearby Melvin Village Marina, the dock on the island was perfect for the 19ft boat we rented but we wouldn't go any bigger. And be sure to buy your worms at the 19 Mile Bay convenience store.

Large roomy ,well furnished camp.Plenty of room....even enjoyed the rainy days!!!

Although a little dated, this cabin was great for what we needed. The owner was very nice to work with. The location was perfect for fishing all around, and the cove was great for anchoring so we could swim, kayak, & float. Ideal for kids!

16 Whortleberry is comfy and spacious with just the right amount of accoutrements: Wifi, A/C, washer/dryer if needed, movies, and a local tv station for news (if you even want to know...). The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals, including a Whortleberry pie for dessert! Not a fancy kitchen, but who wants to spend time in there with the loons calling right in front of you! The front porch is perfect, but needs some nice Adirondack chairs our some cushioned, comfy furniture for lounging and curling up with your favorite book. We didn't use the boats, kayaks and a canoes available, as we have a pleasure craft and explored the lake with it. If you follow the lake path tucked behind the canoe, there's a footbridge and a perfect little sandy beach with enough room for your beach chair and your feet soaking in the warm July water. Would we go back? We're already talking about next year. A resounding yes from humans and canine alike.

The property has everything you would need for a week of quiet and relaxation.
