Late nights can be spent by the fire pit, roasting marshmallows and stargazing. We supply a detailed list of local hikes, waterfalls, antiquing, museums, restaurants and other local attractions so you will have access to those special Adirondack places, some that took us years to find. Winters are beautiful here with skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiilng and great winter hikes and fishing nearby. Amenities include 2 kayaks, 1 stand up paddle board, 4 sets snowshoes, fireplace, fire pit, washer/dryer, high speed internet, local and long distance phone, great farmhouse kitchen with dishwasher, micro, double farm sink, 5 burner stove. This is an exceptionally comfortable home. Guests favorite room tends to be the kitchen, which is part of an open floor plan with dining and sitting room with fireplace, all with great views of the lake. There is a separate living room with 40" flat screen for movie viewing through Net Flix. No cable here. Upstairs Master Bedroom has queen bed, cathedral ceilings and beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Private master bath with extra deep soaking tub (great after day of hiking or skiing), nice lake views from master bath too. Upstairs Guest Bedrooms each have one double bed and use of the 1/2 bath upstairs. Another full bath is downstairs. SPRING, SUMMER and FALL In warmer weather we supply 2 kayaks and one stand up paddle board. The lake is quiet, clean and perfect for a refreshing swim or kayak. The local sand beach is nearby, free tennis and basketball courts in town. WINTER In winter we supply 4 sets snowshoes. This home is a convenient and comfortable base for winter activities - try snow shoeing, hiking, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country or downhill skiing. There are occasional winter race car tournaments on the lake, great views of it from inside or go out and watch up close and personal, very exciting to see! The house is across the street (not a busy one) from the lake. MORE ABOUT THE HOUSE This is not your typical rental house - plenty of love, attention and resources have gone into the renovation of this home, which was a working farm for 90 years and is one of the oldest houses in Wells. We are sharing with our guests all of the stuff that we enjoy on our holidays here - terrific beds with nice linens, top notch grill, antique wood floors throughout, good furnishings, kayaks, snowshoes - all very nice things. So we are looking for responsible, considerate guests who appreciate this and will pay attention to some of the nuances....such as our beautiful wood counters throughout the kitchen will stain permanently if you get red wine on them - so please don't - that sort of thing. Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests must agree to take them home if they brought a lot, leaving a few is fine but must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - recycles must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. She simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is similar to camping, if you brought it in, you must agree to take it out! This is a NO SMOKING, and NO PETS (sorry no exceptions) household - is an allergy sensitive home. Kept immaculately clean, so please only very well behaved children. Watercraft is available for use Apr 15-Oct 30. Holidays rates may be higher with longer minimum stays, please inquire. Rates are for 2 guests, additional person per day fee including children.
