The photos of this delightful property do not do it justice. From the moment you pull up on the private driveway, the cottage is simply enchanting. Open the front door and you step into a luxurious, intimate experience. The photos of the exterior give the impression of a high end beach hut, but up close, this conversion is a testament to good taste and design. A small property for one couple, this cottage is the perfect romantic hideaway. It's position and thick stone walls ensure privacy and also make the outside areas secluded and protected from the elements. We were extremely fortunate with the weather (despite storm warnings) which even allowed for us to sit on the porch enjoying the sunshine late Sunday morning.
The cottage is decorated to a very high standard and very clever use of the available space has been made to ensure that every need is met and every facility available without the space feeling cramped or cluttered. The sofa and arm chair in the sitting room are extremely comfortable, as is the king sized bed in the bedroom.
A very warm welcome greeted us on arrival: lamps had been switched on, the heating had warmed the cottage perfectly and there was a bottle of prosecco chilled in the fridge and a box of chocolates.
We were in need of some serious down time and had opted not to eat out during our stay (we're regular visitors to Beadnell and often eat out). The kitchen has absolutely everything you could need to cook pretty much anything you want, with plenty of utensils and cooking equipment which are all good quality - as is the cooker and hob. The space is very cleverly utilised to include a dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a breakfast bar with stools and a two person dining table, both of which we used.
We felt justified in using the wood burning stove on Sunday afternoon - it being February - and with kindling and logs supplied, we very quickly had a super cosy fire burning.
The bedroom features clever storage and luxurious bedding. Everything has been thought of, including a hairdryer and hair straighteners, which in itself gave this rental the edge for me! It's hard to pick the jewel in the Button crown, but the bathroom is the definition of luxury, again designed to a very high standard with very clever use of space. The walk in shower is wonderful, the unique feature sink with its waterfall tap eyecatching but still practical, and then there's the fabulous double ended bath. I'm not a bath person but I made a point of setting aside some Sunday afternoon time to luxuriate and I was not disappointed. I watched tv from the comfort of my bubbles and if I looked up, I could admire the gorgeous crystal chandelier above and take in the bright blue sky through the large velux window in the roof. But perhaps my favourite part of the bathroom - apart from the wonderful lighting options - was the underfloor heating, which was almost certainly responsible for me lingering in the bathroom on far more occasions than was strictly necessary!
Everything about this Cottage made me think of a luxury boutique hotel. Desipte being self catering, it really does have that feel about it.
I can't deny that there are major wifi deficits, but we've stayed in other properties in Beadnell where it's not much better and the addition of thick stone walls, certainly don't help. The thing is, though, in the end, it helped us to achieve exactly what we wanted from the weekend which was downtime and plenty of relaxation.
Despite its secluded location, the cottage is only round the corner from two great pubs plus the delicious Salt Water Cafe (a bistro in the evenings - menus available to browse online). On the opposite side of the main road is a public footpath which leads to the beach, and of course all the beaches in the area speak for themselves.
I really can't recommend this Cottage highly enough. We are already planning when we can book to stay again. Tracy, the owner has been extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating and allows a doggy guest to stay too.
