We always try to stay in our own little place when we vacation and trying to get an accurate description of properties is sometimes a little tricky, for instance saying a place is a "cottage", when it is actually attached to another structure..... Not so with this lovely studio! The photos accurately depict the studio and, actually, it is even better in person. Everything is clean and neat and well laid out. The kitchen has pretty much everything we needed. I would only add one item: a cookie/baking sheet would be handy. The luggage racks were perfect for holding our bags and there were plenty of hangers. There is a big assortment of gear for the beach and snorkeling, we used the chairs and mats, so nice! There are books and DVDs, too, which is great for the evenings. The owners, Steve and Teresa, provided comprehensive directions for the property, including instructions on using the TV/roku/DVD player, which we appreciated greatly, as well as directions to all the nearest beaches/sites to see. The lanai was amazing and we enjoyed breakfast out there almost every morning. The property is a bit remote, with the winding, switchback 3 mile drive and being several miles from grocery stores/restaurants, but we didn't mind it at all. It is a very quiet neighborhood, which we also loved. (After venturing onto Ali'i Dr in Kona, we were more than ready to get back to the peace and quiet!!) We ate at Mehe's in Ocean View a couple of times, which was good. The towns just north of Milolii, Keokea, Captain Cook, and Kealakekua, are all interesting, we stopped in at several antique stores and shops, which was a lot of fun. Overall, Steve and Teresa have done an awesome job. We didn't get to meet Teresa, who had to stay on the mainland, but Steve was very easy to work with, approachable and very respectful of our privacy. This is one of my favorite places we've stayed and we would definitely consider staying here again.
