I was in NYC for work from the beginning of April to mid-June. Upon the arrival of myself and my 9 month old daughter, Norbert was there to greet us. It seemed he was still wrapping up on the cleaning. He said the previous renter had been there for 6 months. Looking closer I could see that the apartment needed a deeper clean. The cable guy came the next day to repair the tv and was there for over an hour which was an inconvenience but the appointment had already been scheduled so I didn’t feel I had much choice in the matter. The third day I discovered the washer only washed clothes on hot, Norbert said he would get someone right away to repair it. It got scheduled and rescheduled four times. Two weeks later the washer finally got fixed. Mid May there were heat waves that reached 85 degrees and a few weeks later 95 degrees. The listing states: “in room air-conditioning provided from May through October.” I asked Norbert to please install the portable units on a Thursday and he said he would do it that weekend. Saturday rolls around and he argues that it’s not hot enough in May to install them. I showed him the coming forecast and the thermostat in the apartment, which read 80 degrees. He begrudgingly took the three units to get cleaned and serviced as they hadn’t been in over a year. The units were installed a week later just in time for the temperature to reach 95 degrees. He made me and an infant wait an entire week for air-conditioning. I was in touch with VRBO at this time who were prepared to move me as they claimed this would be a false listing as it clearly states air conditioning is provided in May. At this time Norbert also stopped receiving my Amazon packages which included infant formula. The apartment needs an update. The appliances are failing, the portable air-conditioning units are old and filthy. Norbert was not respectful of my time and could care less about the health and safety of his renters, even a baby.
