The views from the kitchen, dining room, master bedroom and bathroom are simply stunning...The Atlantic Ocean. Sometimes like a calm glass lake and others an angry tempest, it is forever changing. Guests find themselves enchanted by the ocean views. And if you're lucky you will see playful dolphins flipping about, performing just for you. You will find a well positioned bench at the bottom of the garden, closest to the sea, the perfect place to enjoy a morning cup of tea or glass of wine in the evening (although you may need a warm sweater)! Or why not fill up the picnic hamper with goodies and stroll down to the beach for a perfect afternoon on the sand. Back at the cottage you'll always be lovely and warm, if you don't wish to light the fire we have full central heating and it's triple glazed throughout. You will have the whole cottage and grounds for your own personal use (you'll usually have the whole beach to yourself too).

Fantastic stay very close to the beach
We had an absolutely fantastic short break at the Old Fisherman's Cottage. The views from the read of the property out to the ocean are breathtaking. Inside, the house is really well finished and we had a wonderful say here. Dugort beach is just a few minutes on foot and presents one of Achill's best beaches. We had relaxing evenings and great family time at the house, and used it as a great base to explore Achill Island during the day. I am sure one day we will return and hope to stay there again in the future. Thanks to Paris and David as hosts, who have presented this house in an excellent manner. I'd recommend to anyone and this has given us great memories as a family to cherish for many years ahead.

Achill treasure
Just a quick review for The Old Fisherman’s Cottage where we just stayed for a week. When you arrive at a place you’ve booked on the internet you are always hoping it will appear as advertised and this certainly was the case, the house was immaculate and warm, everything that you could require was available. We loved the view and the sheep that used to turn up occasionally added to the feel good factor. The scenery and beaches we came across around the area are stunning. A definite recommendation.

Perfect location for a relaxed holiday in great nature
Beautiful little house with sea view in peaceful and likewise beautiful surroundings! The interior is beautifully decorated with so much love for detail. It's fully equipped with everything you need. On a warm day you might go to the lovely beach which is directly next door or sit outside and smell the ocean. What a peaceful place! Achill Island offers great options for hiking. Or you can just enjoy the wonderful landscape and stunning views while travelling by car. The house is a great starting point for both.

Perfect place to unwind and savour the joys of Achill Island
We had an opportunity to take a last minute break on Achill Island and booked The Old Fishermans Cottage to enjoy the independence of a home away from home. This is the perfect place to do so. The house has been fully but sensitively modernised and it is beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. Booking was easy and we had plenty of information about how to get here, how to work everything and tips on how to enjoy the island etc, We would definitely return here if we were to visit Achill again.

This peaceful house has it all - beautiful interior design, ocean views, beach, cafes and restaurants on the doorstep!,
It was such a pleasure to stay in The Old Fishermans Cottage, the house was very comfortable, interior design spot on, and really great art and sculptures throughout - a real feel of luxury, a home away from home. As an avid art lover, I thought I had gone to heaven!! The Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful blue-flag Doogort Beach were our next door neighbours - the views from the house were outstanding. We absolutely loved it!

Lovely stay!
This is a fantastic house with a real sense of peace and connection with the landscape. We really enjoyed the bank holiday weekend in Achill and were blessed with good weather. We have been to Achill many times and this house is a great addition to the area. It is a short stroll to a fabulous beach and it is in a quiet area with just a short drive to the busier parts of the island. David was very easy to communicate with and a bottle of prosecco in the fridge was much appreciated. I hope to return many times.

A priveledge to have stayed
An absolute priveledge to have stayed in this cottage. Thank you David for allowing guests to be able to do so. Tastefully decorated, not cluttered, quality contents, towels, bedlinen, cushions and furnishings. Spotlesly clean and with the most amazing views out the kitchen window of the ocean, sunrises and sunsets and Slievemore mountain, not to mention the view from upstairs bathroom when showering. Sheep and cattle grazing nearby, birdsong, sound of the waves and a sleepy little village. The cosiest fire ever. Central heating as well. The complimentary prosecco was enjoyed down on the bench seat overlooking the sea....sheer bliss.Great location for Atlantic Drive, Keem and Keel beach, restaurants, cafes, grocercy store and butcher. It is the kind of cottage you fall in love with the minute you walk in and wished you owned it yourself, a sense of a warm hug. Simply stunning and David’s wonderful, friendly communication before and during our stay was brilliant. I felt so sad to leave. 10 star rating. (The sister cottage down the road “The Beach Cottage” looks lovely too).

A hidden gem!
We found this cottage just by accident and booked it with David the owner directly. As soon we arrived we were impressed by the location, the stylish interior and the cleanliness of the cottage. My sister was speechless and we could not believe how lucky we were, finding this hidden gem. The cottage has a wonderful view to the sea and we were entertained throughout the day by the sheep who were grazing in front of the cottage. The place is fully equipped with everything you can think off, Wi-Fi is working in every room and even the fireplace can be lit on a cold night. We loved the Old Fisherman Cottage and can't wait to come back.

Excellent escape in Achill
A beautifully renovated cottage, respectful of its heritage but fully modernised for cosy comfort. Great touches with lovely art and super comfy beds. Perfectly clean and appointed with all mod cons (and excellent wifi!). Great hikes and amazing landscape.

There are some excellent places to eat on the island and lots of pubs to enjoy a tipple listening to some traditional Irish music. In Dugort we have two pubs, one at each end of the village as well as two highly recommended restaurants. A visit to Achill Island is the perfect antedote to a busy urban life, the only traffic jams here are caused by the sheep and the most stressful part of the day is waiting for the Guinness to settle.

Achill Island is located in the west of Ireland and connected to the mainland by a bridge at Achill Sound. Our closest airport is Knock West of Ireland, a 75 minute drive away. The airport offers convenient and low cost flights from many destinations within the UK and Europe. Aer Lingus, Ryanair and FlyBe currently offer flights from as little as £50 return. Alternatively there are regular ferry crossings from the UK with the high speed service taking just 2 hours and the conventional crossing of 3.5 hours. It's a very pleasant 4 hour drive to Achill from Dublin.
