An amazing holiday home.

I've stayed in many holiday homes over the last 20 years and never returned until now, I've rebooked another two holidays with Andrew and Kay. The photos don't show how amazing and spacious this home is. A friendly warm welcome and a lovely food box from Andrew and Kay, on arrival who showed us around his holiday home. Then we didn't see him till we left, which allowed us to relax and enjoy our holiday. Knowing if we needed Kay or Andrew they just a phone call away and would be their in minutes. I've recommend this holiday home to friends and my customers and their family's. If your looking for a clean spacious modern and fully equipped holiday break then consider this amazing holiday home.

Lovely place to stay

We stayed here for two nights as we were here to see my Grandaughter competing in her choir. We had a lovely welcome from Andrew and were suprised to get a really substantial welcome pack even though we were only staying the two days,there was enough for brea kfast over our stay and extras which were really appreciated.Would ra ther stay here than in a caravan in Porthcawl..

Lovely Home from Home - Warm and Welcoming Wales !!!

A lovely home from home, had a few nights stay at Porthcawl , the place was very spacious with everything you need , a lovely welcome basket and we were met by the owner at the property on our arrival , very welcoming ! and Friendly Welcome , Ideal for us as we were close to Trecco bay lovely for the children with the indoor pool, amusements, indoor bowling so even though the weather wasn't that good it was great to be so close to lots of things to do for the children , we ventured to swansea and also went to see Dr Who at Cardiff Bay , both cities within 30 minutes drive , really central for visiting south wales , had a great time even though it was winter , also the waves over the lighthouse is a sight well worth watching , us and the photographers , ha even seen the pictures on the evening news behind the weather man !! We will be back in the summer for another little break .

Not as good as it looks in the photo's

On arrival were shown everything by the owner who told us how to work everything. He also told us about Jungle Jims on the holiday park which he thought my son might like.... my son is 17 !! We found this hilarious and I was teasing him throughout the holiday asking if he wanted to go to Jungle Jims for an hour or so. I think the owner possibly lives upstairs in the top of the property or is doing it up. Bathroom quite shabby, sealant around bath needs to be re-done. To be honest we only stayed there at night and my double bed was very comfy, although we could not shut the door to the other bedroom as the bed frame was protruding into the doorway. Both bedrooms had a view out to a wall either side so not nice really. Tiny bit of ground outside back door had an awful old bit of washing line across it and had the dustbin and recycling bins in this area.The so-called patio is at the front which looks onto the road so not really private enough to use. My biggest gripe was the lack of parking, having to park down the road each time I returned to the property, as spaces outside which should really be reserved were always occupied. Perhaps owners could think about having a double driveway? Overall, pleasant enough for what we wanted it for (a bed each for 3 nights) and for what we paid. - we spent most of the time at my daughters rented cottage at the Old Dairy up the road which was amazing! The welcome pack was very good. I recommend the Jolly Sailor pub, not too far, great grub.

We are a little sad about this review due to its contents , firstly yes we meet all guests at the property as you advised , and tell all about the area , things to do out and about etc, Sorry we were the reason for you teasing your 17 year old son , but we call Jungle Jims the area of Trecco where they have lots of things, we thought your son may have enjoyed , the indoor bowling, the large indoor pool, crazy golf , Sports Bars, Night Club , Pool Tables , plus the outdoor all weather football/basketball area , the slots and amusements. bumper cars, oh and yes not forgetting the indoor small childrens play area , so again our apologies for not making this clear. We have fully completed renovating our property, but our neighbour has been finishing off some rendering to the exterior of his property perhaps this is what you are referring to , which he advises should be completed very soon ! In our opinion and the opinion of our other guests our bathroom is far from shabby !! we have many guests reviews and returning guests who say nothing , but good about our property , if your comments were substantiated and there was something we could do to improve our place, we would, of course do anything that could improve our guests stay. I am not going to continue to address every point you have made as we feel that you are using our site through trip advisor and holiday lettings to advertise your family 's holiday let on our site , which I have brought to the attention of holiday lettings ! we pay for advertising and your family does not !! so I do hope that other people see this review for what is it - I have been in touch with them to see if they will indeed remove your review , as when you stayed you did not mention any problems at all with your stay ! ps our double drive will be available as we advised you, very shortly ! as we advised you, we are currently waiting for the council to allow our dropped kerb ! as all the work on the garden has been completed . for the record The Dairy is a few miles out of Porthcawl , and not suitable for most people , and not within walking distance of all the beaches and all the amenities that Porthcawl and our property has to offer . P.s glad you enjoyed your welcome basket xxx

Excellent spacious accommodation

We stayed here for ten days (hubby, me, 2 teenagers and 2 little ones) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The apartment is very spacious and has everything you could want and the welcome basket was over and above - eggs, bacon, coffee, tea, sugar, bread, jam, marmalade, milk, toilet rolls, cereals - you didn't want for anything. All linen provided and towels was a godsend (although we took our own beach towels) and saved so much room in the car. The rooms were light and airy and everything was clean. The cones to save your parking space were very helpful. The apartment is central for everything - just a few minutes walk to the beach and of course the obligatory visit to the fun fair!! There is a chinese takeaway just across the road which is superb and Beales fish and chips just a short stroll away. Andrew the caretaker was very helpful and has a wealth of local knowledge. We loved it so much we want to return next year.....can you book some more sun for us please!! Thank you to Kay and Andrew for an excellent holiday

Highly Recommendable

We have stayed in Porthcawl before in rented accommodation, but The Gateway has been our best experience. A lovely well maintained and equipped apartment. We were greeted at the door on our arrival and the welcome hamper was a much appreciated surprise. It is situated in a very good location close to the town and beach and nearby Trecco Bay Holiday Park offers an alternative for familes to visit and use facilities. We will be back !!

Excellent apartment

Thankyou for fitting us in last minute , apartment is lovely and would def return. We didnt expect the welcome pack but it was more appreciated. Thank you again we will def be back

Highly Recommended

Excellent spacious apartment providing everything required for an enjoyable stay. The apartment was very clean throughout and nicely furnished. It was much larger than we expected. The "welcome pack" in the kitchen was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Kitchen facilities were good and the bathroom was clean with towels provided. It was a shame that the TV needed to be re-tuned each time it was switched on but I suspect that's a problem with the signal in which case perhaps "Sky" can help. There is space for off road parking but as yet this has not been organised however the owners help keep a parking space at the apartment by providing cones for you to place in the road when you go out. We chose to stay for a week over Christmas whilst visiting our daughter who lives about 5 miles from Porthcawl and unfortunately the weather was cold and wet for much of the time (as expected in December ) and with the apartment being so large it was difficult to keep warm using only the central heating in the apartment. That said, we won't hesitate to return in the future if circumstances allow, but probably not in winter ! Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Spacious and very comfortable apartment

All the good things people have pointed out is very much true and maybe more. Never been welcomed with eggs, sausages, bacon, bread, butter, jam, 4 pints of milk and cooking oil not to mention the usual tea an coffee. This was really well thought out because we were there for only 2 nights and needed to save time. The apartment overall is neat and clean with minimalist decor but good taste. Kay went to the trouble of texting to us to make sure that everything was okay even before we got there. Andrew was there to show us where everything was and how things are done. It was all very helpful and a very good touch. The location itself is not very far from the beach and all other local attractions. We managed to visit Aberdulais falls, Swansea City, Llangenith Dunes/Beach, Rhossili, Cardiff City and upto Brecon Beacons Outdoor centre. So it's very central to most of South Wales. Thank you for letting us stay. I hope we can stay again in the future.
